comments from post bariatric surgery patients?
I’m scheduled to have bariatric surgery and I’m wanting to hear what kind of results patients have experienced after their surgery. Much appreciated. Want to hear good & bad experiences.

Bariatric surgery is recognized as the most effective and durable method for persons who are morbidly obese to lose their excess weight and keep it off for many years. It is NOT a quick fix. It is NOT taking the "easy way out."
The benefits of bariatric surgery are numerous:
Longer Life – Studies show that gastric bypass surgery can improve your life expectancy by as much as 89%.
Reduced Health Problems – Severe obesity is associated with at least 50 diseases, including diabetes, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, fatty liver, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, gout and various skeletal and joint problems. Bariatric surgery has been proven extremely successful in eliminating or dramatically reducing most of these health problems.

Are talking immediately post-op? You can email me if you have questions. I took care of several immediate post-op surgery patients during my stint in nursing school.
OK, I don’t know what type of bariatric surgery you go to have. In my case is a open operation and the first days the back pain was bad(a bottle with heat water help) also the need to walk and to do respiratory exercises is a disconform also the 4 days in the hospital. Is you going to have a laparoscopy intervention is more easy and generally is out the hospital the same day. In the first weeks is liquid diet and I didn’t was hungry but the necessity to chew(bread) someting is strong I didn’t do but I need to talk with my family above no eat in my room or near me for a time. When I pass to the mash food in occasions the food I like I vomit. I need to learn to eat again and to know what food I tolerate. Other experience I had but is rare is that after the first week I atually gain weigh because I retain liquid after the doctor gave medication I loss the liquid. The vomit pass with the time I know people that didn’t pass for the experience. Other experience is I begining to loss more hair that usual(use biotin, vitamins and cut short the hair) but is only temporary.
The good part I loss 30 lbs (10% of weigh) the first month and 130 on 1 year. Also I didn’t need to use the medication for the diabetes, high blood presure, cholersterol, etc. 10 pill a day anymore. Is more easy to life with less weigth I doing think like excursion with 5 hours of waking that never think of doing. I had the operation 3 years ago and matain the weigh loss but I need to be aware that I have a problem with food and don’t repeat the bad habits.
Good luck with your operation.I hope is a beginig of a new life and congratulations for the valor to take the decision.
